  1. What did you do this past week? I had a fantastic week. I feel a lot of stress lifted after getting through a wave of midterms. I got to work 40 hours at my internship which I really enjoyed because there were some really interesting problems that came up when we added the largest customer that we’ve had so far with 55,000 Microsoft Teams users. We just finished developing the product last month, but this was our first massive customer. The data-load was in the realm of 40 million messages a week which was a challenge because our database can’t keep up. We’re getting to dive deep into our database schemas and contemplating different designs to increase our performance. I also got to see my family this weekend. I’m planning to stay in Austin after I graduate in December, and they’re on the market for a rental property in Austin that I could stay in, so I got to spend some time looking around at real estate today. I also went golfing and saw some of my friends.
  2. What’s in your way? I’m just waiting on a return offer from my internship in writing. I have a verbal commitment, but no numbers have been established yet because my manager is waiting on HR to open a req. I’m hoping to have something in writing soon.
  3. What will you do next week? I’m actually really looking forward to next week. I am taking the week off of my internship next week which I haven’t done in almost a year to prep for tests and continue interviewing places. I’ve kind of slowed down applying places because I am expecting a return offer by the end of the month, but nothing is guaranteed until it’s in writing.
  4. If you read it, what did you think of The Liskov Substitution Principle? I have not read The Liskov Substitution Principle yet.
  5. What was your experience of Test #1? (this question will vary, week to week) I thought that Test #1 was extremely tough due to the time constraints. I felt like we didn’t go over building classes enough in class, so I struggled with the questions involving that. At least I know I need to study up on that part.
  6. What made you happy this week? This week has just generally been a good week. I’ve been extremely productive, and I also got my sleep schedule back on track.
  7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week? Be sure to keep up with your classes that don’t have hard deadlines. I’ve been lucky (or cursed) with a class that has all assignments due on the last day of class. I’ve procrastinated every part of that class until this week, but I wish that I had worked on it week-by-week because it would’ve been less stressful.
